Winneba (C/R)-Ghana, Oct 28, GNA – The Adventist Preparatory School, Winneba, Saturday held its 25th Anniversary and Career Day with an appeal to stakeholders in education to continue to work hard towards ensuring a brighter future for children.
Forty-Eight pupils, comprising 20 Kindergarten-Two, 21 Basic six, and seven Junior High School form three pupils graduated to the next level.
Elder Shadrack Nkatiah, the Board Chairman of the school, express gratitude to God and the founding fathers of the school for the achievements so far.
“As we all know, the source, the means, and the aim of the Adventist education are true knowledge of God, fellowship and companionship with the Lord in study, service and likeness of Him in character development,” he stated.
“It takes a community to raise a child, hence the need for all to contribute towards children’s education to become responsible citizens in the society.”
Mrs Bithiah Saba Adzifome, the Headmistress of the school, said the school was established in 1997 by the Adventist Church through the instrumentality of Pastor Richard Asiedu Ntriakwah and elder Michael Appiah Baffoe.
It is to provide Christian education, modelled on the biblical pattern with the aim to restore the image of God in humanity and to provide holistic education for service.
“The fact that we have been around for 25 years means that we have survived and we need to celebrate and reflect on our achievements,” she said.
“The kind of education the school offers is what the world needs in this turbulent era, where morality and spirituality are seen as intricate parts of humanity and must not be overlooked.”
“Unfortunately, these have been de-emphasised to the point of being denied in secular education and this is counter-productive.”
Mrs Adzifome said the high rate of crime and immorality among the young required a holistic education rather than lopsided one.
The school, over the years, had delivered this kind of education and would continue to do so irrespective of the challenges it encountered, she said, and commended all partners of the school for their emmense support.
Mrs Adzifome, her husband and family donated five desktop computers and accessories to the school to enhance the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology while the Ghana Conference of the SDA donated GHc5,000.00 to commemorate the day.
