Mr Joseph Emmanuel Anowie, President of Central Regional Chapter of HSWUG, said the establishment of student chapters of HSWUG was pivotal for nurturing future health service professionals and union leaders.
That is aligned with HSWUG’s broader goals of strengthening union representation and fostering a well-prepared workforce to meet Ghana’s healthcare needs.
Beyond that, he said the chapters would serve as platforms for students to engage with industry, develop leadership skills and advocate for better conditions in the health sector.
By involving students early, he said HSWUG was ensuring continuity in its mission to address challenges such as fair labour practices and improved working conditions for health workers across Ghana.
In his inaugural speech, Mr Agyaba emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration among members to establish the UCC Chapter as a model for others.
He called on members to actively contribute ideas and support initiatives aimed at enhancing the chapter’s effectiveness and relevance.
“Together, we can build a strong and vibrant chapter that addresses the needs of its members and sets a standard for other chapters across the country.
“The focus on unity and innovation aligns with HSWUG’s broader mission of advocating for improved conditions and professional development opportunities for health workers in Ghana,” he stated.
The election of Mr Agyaba and his team is expected to energize union activities at UCC, fostering engagement among health service students and preparing them for leadership roles in the sector.
