Sunyani-Ghana, Dec. 31, GNA – Two goals from Kotoko’s Steven Mukwala was all they needed to pick out all three points and edge out their opponents, Tano Bofoakwa at their favourite Sunyani Coronation park.
In a thrilling matchday 17 fixture of the ongoing betPawa Ghana Premier League, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC emerged victorious with a 2-0 win.
Striker Steven Mukwala proved to be the hero of the day, scoring a goal in each half to secure the three maximum points for Kotoko SC.
Mukwala wasted no time in making his mark on the game, finding the back of the net in the 21st minute, after taking advantage of a loose ball in the 18-yard box, when Bofoakwa goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi failed to clear his lines.
Despite numerous missed opportunities from both teams, the first half ended with the Kumasi based team maintaining their solitary lead.
The second half began with renewed energy from both sides, but it was the home team that seemed to dominate.
Their dominance however, failed to translate into goals.
It was Mukwala once again who silenced the home crowd in the 80th minute, extending Kotoko’s lead with his second goal of the match.
Despite Bofoakwa Tano’s efforts to equalize, Kotoko held firmly and maintained their two-goal advantage until the final whistle, securing the victory in the matchday 17 encounter.
