Tema-Ghana, July 20, GNA – The Intellect School Quiz has organised an inter-school quiz competition for both public and private schools in the Tema Metropolis at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tema New Town.
The Intellect School Quiz competition had students from four categories, which included Kindergarten, lower primary, upper primary, and Junior High School.
The quiz started with 16 schools in the Tema Metropolis.
The quiz had winners from Gina’s Angel School for upper and lower primary, St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Basic School for the JHS category, and Wonders International School for the kindergarten category.
Mr. Bennett Emma Raymond, Chief Executive Officer of the Intellect School Quiz Competition, said the competition aimed to inspire learners from KG-JHS levels to delve beyond the basics and make a connection between theory and application of the principles they have learned.
Also, the Intellect School quiz competition is intended to help the participants gain a broad and specialised understanding of a subject and to encourage fun learning methods to enhance general knowledge, he stated.
He noted that the quiz tournament supports the holistic development of learners in all subject areas.
The Intellect School quiz was set up as a medium to encourage all schools to fully participate in the competition and help our brilliant learners advance in their knowledge, skills, and talents.
Mr. Raymond, moreover, stated that the Intellect School Quiz Competition was a great way to have fun with all schools by bringing both public and private schools.
He said because it was the maiden competition, they decided to start with the schools within Tema New Town and also open doors to all schools both within and outside Tema who would be interested in participating in the second edition of the quiz competition.
“Beyond the obvious academic advantages of exposing a child to new ideas and abilities at a young age, the quizzes fundamentally alter how education is provided and improve the students innovativeness through sets”, he added.
He stated the prizes for the winners of the competition, which included a trophy, plaques, a set of textbooks, exercise books, pens and pencils, medals, and a certificate of participation.
That not withstanding, the best teacher, quiz master, and mistress were honoured with citations, as was the basic school coordinator for both public and private schools in Tema Metro for her dedication and contribution.
He further explained that the teachers had really made a massive impact on this competition. The competition seeks to involve more schools and sponsors to prepare for the next season.
Mr. Raymond advised learners to stand tall as they compete with their opponents for the next season.
Mrs. Elizabeth Esi Ogbey, Coordinator of basic education in both private and public schools in Tema Metro, expressed her appreciation to the team—teachers, students, and participants—for their conduct during the quiz competition.
