Tema-Ghana, April 22, GNA – Ms. Anna Adukwei Addo, Municipal Chief Executive for Tema West Municipal Assembly, has contributed 29 sacks of rice and cartons of frozen chicken to the Muslim community in honour of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Ms. Addo told the Ghana News Agency’s Tema Regional Office that the items were given to the Muslim brothers and sisters for completing the Ramadan fast successfully.
As a result, she handed the goods to the Muslim Ummah on behalf of the Assembly Members from the 11 electoral zones and the entire Assembly.
According to her, the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration helpef to gather Muslims together to maintain peace, harmony, discipline, and obedience in society and the municipality as a whole.
Ms. Addo said donating to the Muslim community had been a top priority for the Assembly and that the donation was made every year to support them as their fasting time had ended.
She said prior to Ramadan, the Assembly spoke with the Imam to assist create discipline in the municipality, especially during the Eid celebration, to ensure a successful and peaceful Eid.
Mr. Mohammed Awal, Imam of Sakumono Village Mosque, reaffirmed that every mosque had a disciplined routine for the youth.
This Eid should be celebrated appropriately and without any sadness, especially among the youth.
Regardless, he stated that the usage of motorbikes had been restricted and how best to ride them on the streets to avoid any recklessness.
“These charitable activities for the Muslim ummah would relieve us of any financial burden during this festive season,” he stressed.
The Imam emphasized the importance of the Eid celebration since it marks the completion of the 30-day fast, which is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Mr. Mohammed, who accepted the gifts on behalf of the Muslim ummah in the municipality, thanked the MCE and Assembly for the honour bestowed upon them for the event.
