The Tema Traditional Council has placed a customary ban on drumming and noise making within its traditional area.
This was contained in an announcement issued by the Traditional Council and signed by the registrar and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
It said, “It is announced for the information of the public, particularly residents in the Tema Traditional Area, that this year’s customary ban on drumming and noise making within the area takes effect from Friday, 25th April 2025 to Saturday, 17th May 2025”.
It indicated that during this period, burials and funerals are prohibited within the traditional area.
Other prohibited activities include playing music, drumming, and general noise making.
The Traditional Council stated that the ban is to be observed in Tema Newtown and all the communities, Ashaiman, Zeenu, Kubekro, Adigon, Saasabi, Klangon, Adjei Kojo, Sakumono and Adjeiman.
It entreated the general public to observe the period as such and abide by the directive in order to forestall any confrontations between representatives of the council and members of the community.
