Tema-Ghana, Aug. 14, CDA Consult – The Tema Metropolitan Education Directorate has congratulated educational stakeholders on the success of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which concluded last Friday, and called the examination’s conduct as smooth and incident-free.
Mrs. Bernice Ofori, Tema Metropolitan Education Director, also praised the participation of invigilators and security officers, as well as the candidates who followed the rules of engagement.
She stated that the one-week examination, which began on Monday, August 7th and ended on Friday, August 11th, was quite smooth in the city.
Mrs. Ofori stated that no cases of invigilation misconduct, late delivery of exam papers to the centre, or candidate misbehaviour had been reported.
She did, however, note that they had documented a few complaints of applicants complaining of headaches and stomach problems, which were managed by the nurses assigned to the centers.
Meanwhile, 4,226 final-year junior high school students in the Tema Metropolis took the 2023 BECE at 13 centers.
The 27 public basic schools registered 2,497 candidates, while the 67 private schools registered 1,729 candidates.
In the Tema Metropolis, the BECE was administered by 149 invigilators, 13 supervisors, and 14 assistant supervisors.
