Tanoano, (B/R)-Ghana, Dec. 8, GNA – Residents of Tanoano, a farming community in the Sunyani Municipality who share the untreated Tano River with stray animals now have potable drinking water.
Touched by their plight, Mr Seid Mubarak, the 2024 Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has constructed and handed over a mechanized borehole to address the water demand needs of the people.
Hitherto, the residents told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) because they depended mainly on and fetch water from the untreated Tano River for household chores, reported cases of typhoid were common among particularly, school children in the area.
“Our situation was very appalling because we share the river with animals”, he stated, and expressed the community’s heartfelt appreciation to the Parliamentary Candidate for coming to their aid and putting up the mechanized borehole in the community.
Handing over the borehole to the community at a short ceremony held at Tanoano, Mr Mubarak advised the people to take proper care of the facility, adding the surest way they could appreciate the gesture was for the electorate in the area vote for him and the NDC in the Election 2024.
Mr Mubarak indicated successive NDC governments remained sensitive and were poised to alleviate the plight of people in rural communities, and promised to ensure that the immediate and pressing needs of the community were tackled by the next NDC government.
