The new facility is to enhance emergency care and relieve pressure on existing resources.
It was unveiled at a ceremony where the Governing Board of the hospital expressed great satisfaction with the achievement.
Dr Michael Yelibora, Deputy Director of Medical Affairs at TTH, speaking during the event, said the new theatre was crucial in improving patient care in the Northern Region.
He stated that the theatre would allow more efficient management of emergency cases by stabilising and converting some into elective cases.
He highlighted the reduced strain on the main theatre as a key benefit, which was expected to significantly elevate the quality of care provided.
Dr Yelibora expressed gratitude to the hospital’s Board and Management for their unwavering support throughout the process, acknowledging their role in operational upgrade of the facility.
Dr Mahmoud Hamid Nassir-Deen, Governing Board Chairman of TTH, lauded the efforts of the Management and staff and said their hard work from commitment, culminated in completing the theatre.
He said: “I am truly impressed and delighted that we have reached this point. Seeing this theatre operational is a testament of our collective efforts.”
He said unveiling the new theatre was part of a broader series of improvement at the hospital.
The Governing Board Members also inspected ongoing development projects at the hospital.
The projects inspected included the expansion of water storage facilities, the establishment of an oxygen plant, the development of a corporate clinic, and the refurbishment of the children’s emergency ward.
Progress on the facility’s new bed management unit was also inspected.
