Sefwi Bekwai (WNR)-Ghana, June 18, GNA – The Sefwi Bekwai Roman Catholic Basic School has celebrated its 75th anniversary with a call on Old Students and other stakeholders to help address the challenges confronting the school.
According to the Headteacher of the School, Mr. Vincent Adjei Mensah, the school which prides itself as an institution of excellence in the Sefwi Bekwai enclave was faced with a myriad of challenges including lack of toilets facilities and insufficient furniture for both teachers and students.
The Headteacher also mentioned that the school did not have enough classrooms to accommodate the large enrollment as well as computer laboratory and other important facilities to enrich the image of the school.
He said the school, since its establishment in 1944, had produced distinguished personalities who had excelled and continue to excel in various fields of endeavor contributing to the country’s development.
According to him, the school is the preferred choice for almost 85 percent of the people in Sefwi Bekwai and its environs.
The anniversary was on the theme: “Transforming Our World, Maintaining Our Heritage Through Quality Education “.
Mr Paul Andoh, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai who is a former student of the school, encouraged the pupils to aspire to be the best in life and not settle for less.
“Excellence in education surpasses everything in life if students want to go forward, they should aspire to be the best and not mediocrity and also the community which involves the traditional council and other stakeholders should help in any way possible to make achieving education purpose,” he said.
Mr John Acquah, Circuit Supervisor for Sefwi Bekwai ‘B’ who represented the Municipal Director of Education acknowledged the management and staff of the school for organizing such an educational programme.
