Residents from some communities under the Monome Electoral Area in the Akatsi South Municipality have embarked on a bridge project for easy access to their communities.
The move, which began on Wednesday, would see the construction of a culvert that connected Monome to Tsifakope, Atsiati, and Dokpakope.
Mr Livingston Kpodo, the Youth leader for Monome, during an interaction with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), explained that they remained focused to making their dreams come true “since the government alone could not get solutions to our challenges.
He said the project, when completed, would reduce the suffering of his people and drivers who ply the road.
He also commended the chiefs, elders, residents, and the youth from Monome Nukpokope, Tsifakope, Atsiati, and Dokpakope for availing themselves to champion the project.
Mr Neyram Satsi, the newly elected assembly member for the area, on his part, explained that the portion of the road gets unmotorable during the rainy season.
He commended Mr Samuel Benedict Nugblega, a former Akatsi South NDC
parliamentary primary aspirant, who donated some gravel to fill that portion of the road.
Mr Satsi commended other individuals who remained committed to the progress of the project.
He also appealed to groups and individuals to come to their aid.
The GNA also observed that the road, which is connected to several farming communities including Kuigba, Bata, and Atidzive, was in a deplorable state, especially during the rainy season.
