Tema-Ghana, Dec. 27, MNN – The Redemption Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) at Tema Community nine has marked Christmas with religious and folk songs and hymns as a manifestation of the birth of Jesus Christ.
The solemn celebration saw the various groupings in the church singing popular carols in the Ghanaian and English languages interspersed with the reading of scriptures.
The Children Service gave a beautiful rendition of the “12 days of Christmas,” with placards depicting the various gifts that were mentioned in the song to the admiration of the congregation.
The Women’s Fellowship on their part sang melodiously with three of their members dressed as the Magi, who were the Biblical ‘three wise men’.
Other groupings that took the church through the commemoration of the birth of Christ were the Men’s Fellowship which also joined the singing parade with “Afi aya ni eba nina w)” in the Ga language amidst dondo drum sound.
The Young People’s Guild (YPG), Junior Youth (JY), Singing Band, Young Adult Fellowship (YAF), and Brigade among others all gave their versions of hymns and songs to remind the church of the birth of Jesus Christ.
The
Rev Ansong urged the public to give Jesus a place in their heart as God send him who was his only son to reconcile man unto himself.
She said Jesus was the center of Christmas, adding that Christmas was not about partying but rather giving room to Jesus in every situation in order to experience his peace.
