Fiapre (B/R)-Ghana, Dec. 10, GNA – Professor Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, the Vice Chancellor of the Sunyani Technical University (STU) says quality education serves as a direct source of knowledge and ideas for new technological advancement.
He said quality educational system could be attained through frequent monitoring of learners and student progress and either measuring or evaluating against the set curriculum outcomes.
He indicated a safe and orderly learning environment, adherence to time management as well as teachers allocation of adequate time for classroom instruction, group activities and other extra-curricular activities.
Prof. Adinkrah-Appiah was addressing a public lecture on the theme, ‘‘Education, Our New Heritage” as part of activities to mark the Educational Festival and 5th Anniversary celebration of the enstoolment of Obrempong Prof. Kyem-Amponsah II as chief of Fiapre in the Sunyani West Municipality.
He said positive relationships between parents, the school staff and leadership and traditional authority should be fostered, saying stakeholders should comprehend and actively get involved in activities and processes that could aid the school to attain its vision and mission.
” Knowledge sharing between the school management, teachers, students, stakeholders including chiefs and the surrounding community is an integral aspect of the school culture that produces quality outcomes”, Prof. Adinkrah-Appiah said.
He stated economic development was dependent on the investments made in the generation of new ideas through innovation and the creation of new goods and services, saying growth dwelled on the creation of knowledge through education and training.
Prof. Adinkrah-Appiah encouraged the Chiefs and elders of the area to commit more resources to Science and Technology and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Education, so that innovation and inventions could be developed by the indigenes of Fiapre which would generate commensurate economic returns to them and the nation at large.
He appealed to the chiefs and elders of the area to invest the community’s resources in the education of the people, especially brilliant but needy students in the communities.
Obrempong Prof. Kyem-Amponsah II, Chief of Fiapre said for more than 300 years that the people of Fiapre had resided on their land they had not been under any traditional authority.
He, therefore, suggested tabling a proposal to the Bono Regional House of Chiefs for the area to be considered for paramountcy status.
