Ho-Ghana, Sept. 19, GNA – The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC) has begun sitting in Ho in the Volta Region over the 2021 Auditor General’s Report.
The sitting would cover reports from the Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, and Oti Regions with focus of technical universities, senior high schools, and local assemblies.
Mr James Klutse Avedzi, Chairman of the Committee, opened the sittings on Monday with the report of the Accra Technical University, and he told reporters that public accounting had improved.
“The issues are light, and the infractions are fewer,” he said, noting common occurrences such as running of unaccredited programmmes, and issues surrounding study grants.
He said the issues were peculiar nationwide and that the Committee was collaborating with relevant institutions to address them.
Reports on Local Assemblies would be considered the next day September 19, and the Chairman maintained that the Committee “expected lighter and fewer issues,” than before.
“Fewer issues mean that institutions are taking the work of the PAC seriously and are complying with the laws of the country. The Committee wants them to continue to comply with all the directives to not be sanctioned,” Mr Avedzi stated.
The Ho Technical University, and the Accra, and Koforidua technical universities occupied the morning of the first day, to be followed later in the day by the Accra College of Education, the Peki College of Education, and the EP College of Eduction, Amedzofe.
