Accra-Ghana, Sept. 23, GNA – The Police have once again prevented  OccupyJulorBiHouse protestors from marching to the Jubilee House, the seat of Government.

This time, the protestors were not arrested but were held behind Police lines as about 30 police men held hands and formed a barrier to prevent the group from proceeding further.

The incident occurred at the 37 Military Hospital entrance in Accra at 1200hrs today.

The Police brought in more vehicles and equipment to strengthen their lines as the protestors pursued their goal of reaching the Jubilee House. Some sat in the middle of the road as others chanted slogans and sang anthems.

The incident blocked the path of cars coming from Accra Central direction. However, the traffic situation in 37 enclave was fluid as cars and commuters went about their business.

Addressing the protesters, Mr Oliver Barker-Vormawor, one of the lead protestors, said the group would not disperse until it was granted access to the Jubilee House.

The protestors under the banner of OccupyJulorBiHouse, are demanding a range of reforms, including a reduction in the cost of living, an end to corruption, and improved governance.

On Thursday, 49 protestors were arrested at the point of gathering. The Police said they were arrested because they had defied court orders.

The Police said they had secured a court injunction to prevent the group from embarking on the protest hence their presence at the 37 station was illegal.

However, the organisers claimed that they had not received any court notice, banning them from embarking on their protest hence their presence at the converging point, calling the Police action illegal and savage.
