– Personnel at the Kwatire-Odumase Police Barrier in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region have expressed appreciation to Mr Kofi Vinyo, an agro-processor, for constructing a police post to strengthen their operations and improve security on the stretch.
The facility, estimated to cost GH¢60,000.00, has separate washrooms for male and females and an office with furniture, a printer and computer.
During an inspection visit, the personnel told the Ghana News Agency (GNA)that the facility would relieve them of inconveniences and deepen their operations.
The tiling and roofing works had been completed and the contractors were putting finishing touches to connect electricity to the building.
Police Inspector Theophilus Ofori, the Station Officer, said the Police required such kind gestures to further strengthen their relationship with civilians in crime prevention.
He, therefore, called for more support from the public and commended the philanthropist, a physically challenged person, for helping to alleviate the plight of the police.
Corporal Bernice Asiedu, an officer, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the philanthropist, saying the facility would help reduce a lot of inconveniences for the personnel, especially the females.
Another female officer, Lance Corporal Comfort Oppong, said it was difficult for the personnel on duty to find shelter during rainy seasons and said the facility had come at the right time.
Mr Vinyo, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Kofi Vinyo Group of Companies, dealers and exporters of agro processed products, assured that the facility would be completed and handed over to the police by mid-February, this year.
He said his support was to emphasise the fact that modern policing was a shared responsibility and called on all to support the police to function efficiently.
Mr Vinyo noted that crime was now sophisticated, and the police needed modern gadgets and a sound environment to operate and clamp down on miscreants.
That was why he intended to furnish the facility with at least a computer, an air conditioner and a refrigerator to make the personnel more comfortable when on duty, he said.
