The event featured only five contingents, including the Zion College Brass Band, Zion College Army Cadet, Avete D/A Basic School, and Dzidedi Preparatory School, all located in the Anloga township.
The parade lasted for less than two hours.
The adjustment aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s directive to downsize this year’s celebrations as a cost-saving measure.
The event was held under the theme: “Reflect, Review, and Reset,” encouraging participants to reflect on Ghana’s progress and that of the Anloga District.
Dignitaries present included Mr. Emmanuel Dzakpasu, Anloga District Coordinating Director, and Superintendent Benjamin Samani, Anloga District Police Commander, who took the salute during the ceremony.
Othere were Mr Dominic Yao Dzanado, Anloga District Education Director, Togbi Dala Avege III of Anloga, staff of the District Assembly and the Education directorate.
Mr Emmanuel Dzakpasu, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency urged residents to embrace the values of true independence
“True independence means being self-sufficient, creating opportunities for our people, and ensuring that every Ghanaian regardless of background had access to quality Education, healthcare and economic opportunities,” Mr Dzakpasu said.
Citizens who witnessed the event applauded the move as very simple and time saving. They said it reduced the stress their wards have to endure in the sun during previous parades.
