Ningo-Prampram May 13, CDA Consult – Voting for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency Presidential and Parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been halted at the New Ningo D/A Basic School due to a voter list misunderstanding.
The primary challenger, Mr. Michael Kwetey Nartey, insisted that some 16 delegates cleared by a Tema High Court must vote, resulting in a temporary condition of confusion, heckling, and jostling.
The police have taken over the inner limit of the voting place to secure previously cast ballots, other electoral material, and officials.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Laar Barma, Deputy Tema Regional Police Commander, is discussing the matter with the two candidates.
The incumbent Member of Parliament is likely to be retained or replaced by 1,714 delegates from 198 branches in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency.
The election, which started at 0730 hours at the New Ningo D/A Basic School, went ahead without a hitch until the main contender’s demand.
While the incumbent, Mr. Samuel Nartey Goerge, also known as Sam Dzata, is running for re-election for a third time, Mr. Michael Kwetey Nartey, a former constituency secretary, aims to topple him.
Despite the fact that Mr Nartey, who was defeated by Mr Sam George by seven votes in 2019, has pledged to win and represent the constituency in Parliament by 2025, the incumbent has stated that he will win by a landslide.
There is a substantial police presence, with a Formed Police Unit (FPU) armoured vehicle stationed to provide tight security and prevent any type of violence.
