Dawhenya (near Tema)-Ghana, Dec. 09, – The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NIPDA) has awarded their six best farmers on the Farmers Day celebration for their exceptional contribution to agriculture in the district.
The farmer’s day celebration was on the theme “Delivering smart solutions for sustainable food and resilience.”
The six were made up of the district’s best female farmer, the district’s best physically challenged farmer, the district’s best agroprocess, the district’s best extension officer, and the overall best framer.
They all received certificates and other items, including refrigerators, watering cans, 32-inch flat-screen televisions, power handle sprayers, cutlasses, Wellington boots, and others.
Mr. Emmanuel Addo Adelah emerged as the overall best farmer; Ms. Eunice Kutiame was the district’s best female farmer; Addo Rabbi was the district’s best agromarketer; Iddrisu Waliue was the district’s best physically challenged farmer; Elssy Kess Company Ltd. was the district’s best agroprocessor; and Okai Laryea was the district’s extension officer.
Mr. Adelah received a certificate, a double deck fridge, two water cans, a knapssack sprayer, five cutlasses, one Wellington boot, and others.
Forty-six-year-old Mr. Adelah, a married man with four children, had 125 acres of watermelon, 25 acres of pepper, ten acres of maize, 20 acres of tomatoes, five acres of okro, five acres of cassava, one acres of pumpkin, ten acres of yellow melon, and two acres of beans, in addition to 606 cattle, seven rats, nine guinea fowl, 25 goats, 105 sheep, nine turkeys, and a fish pound.
