Mr Francis Owass, a hotelier told the GNA that the move was expected to leverage his expertise to drive development initiatives and address pressing concerns in the region.
He said though some had raised concerns about the challenges ahead, he believed Mr Nelson has the vision, experience, and leadership skills required to excel in his new role.
According to him, the nomination of Mr Nelson, who was the party’s Regional Secretary, is a major victory for the party.
Mr Hemans Arthur, a resident at Essikafombatam No.2, was optimistic about the prospects for growth, development, and improved livelihoods in the region with Mr Nelson at the helm of affairs.
Mr Micheal Arthur, a former Youth Organiser for Takoradi Constituency noted that the Western Region was a key battleground for the NDC in recent years.
According to him, the party has been working to consolidate its support base in the region, and Mr Nelson’s nomination was seen as a crucial step in that direction.
