Kpone (Near Tema) Oct. 27, MNN – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency have voted convincingly to retain the incumbent Chairman, Mr. Nicholas Oko Ofei in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission.


Mr. Oko Ofei who is popularly known in the constituency as General Nikus had 1,240 representing 60.87 percent of the valid votes cast to beat his only contender Mr. Haruna Mahama who pulled 797 representing 39.13 percent of the valid votes cast. The total votes cast was 2,037.
Mr. Francis Xavie Naapane pulled 903 votes representing 44.57 percent to win the Vice Chairmanship position as against Mr. Samuel T. K. Morton who had 809 votes representing 39.93 percent and Mr. Anthony Ayanu who had 314 votes representing 15.50 percent. The total votes cast was 2,026.
The position of Constituency Secretary was won by Mr. Edward Xorse Dogbatse with 1,436 votes representing 70.43 percent to defeat Mr. Francis Yao Ahasie who had 603 votes representing 29.57 percent. The total votes cast was 2,039.
Mr. Peter Yao Glavi pulled 1,021 votes representing 50.17 percent of the total votes cast of 2,035 to beat Ms. Elizabeth Nuerkie Mensah who had 1,014 votes representing 49.83 percent for the Deputy Secretary position.
Mr. Abdulai Tanko Abubakar pulled 897 votes representing 44.06 percent to beat Mr. Sualiho Mansuro who had 491 votes representing 24.12 percent and Mr. Prince Mohammed Alhassan with 648 votes representing 31.83 percent to win the Zongo Caucus Coordinator slot.
Mr. Ernest Harrison Doe won the Constituency Organizer slot, Mr. Nelson Glivey took the Deputy Organizer position, Mr. Bright Kwame Kwawukumey won the treasurer position and the Deputy Treasurer was won by Ms. Elizabeth Adjabeng.
The Constituency Communication Officer post was won by Mr. Martin Adator while Mr. Edem F. Tsrukasu was elected as the deputy; Ms. Diana Fofo Laryea won the Women Organizer slot; and Mr. Jerry John Adjorlolo was declared the winner for the Youth organizer position.
Mr. Damien G. K. Barson won the Deputy Youth Organizer position.
The internal election forms part of the NDC’s reorganization and preparation for the coming general elections in 2024, Mr. Oko Ofei stated after the elections.
Mr. Oko Ofei thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and the other executives to lead the party again in the next four years.
He noted that without unity amongst the ranks and file of the party victory might elude them during the 2024 General Elections, stressing that the interest of the party stands paramount above any individual interest.
He pledged to ensure that the party structures worked so as to safeguard effective party administration towards 2024 and beyond.
