Seprepor (near Tema)-Ghana Sept. 20 – Multiple ejaculations from men would help protect them from prostate cancer, Dr. Andrew Mensah, Anesthesiologist at the Tema General Hospital has disclosed.
According to him, multiple ejaculations have been considered one of the various therapies to deal with prostate cancer in men, saying that wives should not deny their husbands sex when they call for it.
He added that men who often have sex stand a low risk of suffering from prostate cancer, stressing that unmarried men should frequently go for routine tests to know their status and how best it could be managed.
Dr. Mensah made this remark during a breakfast health talk with the Kakasunaka, Nmlitsakpo, Sebrepor, Bethlehem, and Gbetsile (KAMSBEG) Zonal Council in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
He also explained that ejaculation releases oxytocin which helps to control your stress levels, “stress is not good for the body and can lead to depression, therefore, regular ejaculation keeps your stress levels stay under control.
“Ejaculation relaxes the body, which ensures you have quality sleep.
He further stated that prostate cancer was among the other life-threatening illnesses that send people to their graves.
He mentioned that knowing one’s status with regards to cervical, prostate, breast, or any form of cancer was very important to finding the best treatment in its early stages.
Dr. Mensah encourage the public to develop the habit of healthy living, which involves frequent medical checkups and workouts.
The Tema General Hospital Anesthesiologist revealed that many health complications could be prevented when one adopts a healthy lifestyle.
Meanwhile a paper on “Why more sex may lower prostate cancer risk,” which is a study co-authored by Lorelei Mucci, professor of epidemiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2016 found that ejaculating more than 20 times per month reduced prostate cancer risk by about 20 percent compared to ejaculating only four to seven times per month, for both men in their 20s and 40s.
According to the study, Prof. Mucci said in a March 22, 2022 article in Fatherly that a number of studies have found that greater ejaculation frequency is associated with a reduced risk of prostate cancer.
One possible explanation for why frequent ejaculation might protect against prostate cancer is that it may help clear potentially cancer-causing substances from the prostate, Mucci said.
She noted that, overall, ejaculation has many benefits and few risks if done safely. “Sex can be a wonderful part of healthy relationships, and sex and masturbation can have positive psychosocial effects,” she said.
“So, there is no downside to increased sex—or masturbation—as long as it is protected sex,” she noted.
