Despite being replaced as Minority Leader during his ongoing tenure in the Eighth Parliament, Mr Iddrisu says “he holds no resentment, describing his time in the role as a “rare opportunity to serve.”
“… Mr Chairman, there were some decisions that you are guided collectively by the party, and then we take a decision. But as I said, I never, never changed after being replaced as a Minority Leader. I do not carry guilt in my heart; I had my opportunity,” Mr Iddrisu said on Monday when he was vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
He told the Committee that he campaigned for the NDC, driven by his dissatisfaction with the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) management of the economy.
“I went out there to campaign for the NDC because I was convinced that, in terms of the management of the economy, I wasn’t satisfied with how the NPP managed the country. I do not carry guilt in my heart. I had the rare opportunity to serve,” he added.
The NDC leadership, under Chairperson Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has introduced new leadership changes, with Cassiel Ato Baah Forson succeeding Mr Iddrisu as Minority Leader. Other changes included Mr Armah Kofi Buah as Deputy Minority Leader, Mr Kwame Governs Agbodza as Minority Chief Whip, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, and Madam Comfort Doyo-Ghansah retaining their positions as First and Second Deputy Whips, respectively.
