Mr Jerry Ahmed Shiab, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Weija-Gbawe, who addressed the Parliamentary Press Corp in Parliament House on Monday, said: “the Electoral Commission needs to recollate the outstanding polling stations, but this requires a secure environment.”
Mr Ahmed Shiab urged President John Dramani Mahama to call the alleged NDC supporters causing chaos to order, to allow the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete its work.
The Ablekuma North constituency has been embroiled in controversy, with the EC suspending the collation of results due to escalating tensions.
The Commission had appealed for security to complete the collation process, citing the destruction of property and threats to staff by alleged NDC supporters.
The Minority Caucus’s threat to withdraw cooperation comes amid concerns over the integrity of the electoral process. With the government facing pressure to ensure a fair and transparent outcome, the situation in Ablekuma North remained a critical test of its commitment to democratic principles.
