Nogokpo (V/R)-Ghana, Jun 02, GNA – The chiefs and people of Nogokpo in the Ketu South Municipality have summoned Perez Chapel International founder and leader to appear before them over his comment tagging the community, “demonic headquarters of the Volta Region.”
Archbishop Dr Charles Agyin-Asare, in a recent video published online, allegedly gave the tag while preaching to his congregation about divine protection and existence of evil forces during their programme, Supernatural Summit.
He, among several examples, recounted an accident he witnessed at Nogokpo when the church hosted a crusade some miles away at Aflao, an incident he believed was a spiritual attack, thus, his conclusion on the community.
This received backlash from a section of the public including Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South with the Archbishop later coming out to say that he had no evil intention against the community and the people of the Volta Region as a whole.
The people in a press statement presented by Nufialaga Mawufemor Korbla Nornyibey gave the archbishop 14 days within, which to meet the council of elders of Nogokpo for peace talk believing, he deliberately decided to tarnish the good reputation of the people.
“We, the chiefs and people of Nogokpo… give 14-days ultimatum to Archbishop Dr Charles Agyin-Asare, the founder of Perez Chapel International, to meet us in person for peace talk about a statement he made that ‘Nogokpo is the demonic headquarters of Volta Region.'”
The statement said, “that it is expected that these 14 days ultimatum given to Agyin-Asare will serve as a peremptory to do the needful, but his rejection might compel us to advise ourselves.”
The statement insisted that the community had never engaged in any inhuman activities and that its people are peaceful and tolerant, thus, Nogokpo could not be said to be headquarters of the “wild, cruel and evil” as is the Longman dictionary definition of the word “demonic.”
The statement concluded by calling on National Peace Council and the Christian Council to help the Archbishop appear before them within the 14 days for amicable resolution.
