The Pakyi District Court has granted a GHC30,000.00 bail with a surety to a 32-year-old mason who allegedly stole 222 bags of cement valued GHC17,516.00 from a trader.
The surety should produce a valid national identity card to the registry of the Court.
Emmanuel Sebeh pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He will make his next appearance on July 8, 2024.
Police Chief Inspector Christian Amartey told the Court presided over by Madam Dora Nsiah Jackson that Madam Gifty Afriyie, the Complainant was a trader whilst Sebeh, accused person, resided at Paa.
He said the Complainant owned a cement shop located at Paa and that in December 2023, Sebeh contacted Madam Afriyie and pleaded with her to employ him as a sales boy at her cement shop.
Madam Afriyie employed Sebeh and handed over 300 bags of cement to him to sell each at GHC 78.00 and they agreed on a monthly pay, the Court was told.
Chief Inspector Amartey said on April 8, 2024, Madam Afriyie came to take stock of the shop only to detect that there was no single cement at the shop and Sebeh when asked of the cement, he said some construction workers came in for the cement on credit and he could not account for 222 bags of cement valued at GHC17,516.00.
When asked of the names of his creditors, he could not give out the names and neither could he give their whereabouts, Chief Inspector Amartey said.
The Prosecution said Madam Afriyie reported the incident to the Trede Police, leading to the arrest of Sebeh.
Sebeh in his investigation cautioned statement admitted the offence and after investigation, he was charged with the offence to appear before court.
