Kumasi-Ghana, Nov. 11, GNA – Barnabas Dompey bagged gold for the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the men’s 400 meters hurdle at the ongoing Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games after clocking a time of 53.29 seconds.
More or less like a host and win agenda, the athlete beat Peter Antiedu from the University of Development Studies (UDS), who finished second with a time of 53.61.
Dompeh came first in heat one whiles Atiedu also came first in the heat two but with a time lower than that of Barnabas Dompey, which saw him declared winner of that category.
Dompey in an interview with the GNA Sports said he was training hard to set a record time at the 13th African Games which would be hosted in Ghana next year.
Antiedu also said “The race was not easy, the start was not good so it brought pressure on me so it is by God that I was able to win.”
Speaking on his preparedness ahead of the 13th African games, the national athlete said it was his target to represent the country at the games which he would be looking out for.
Peter Antiedu won silver for UDS whiles Gilbert Kwofie also won bronze for the University of Energy and Natural Resources.
