Taking a moment to entertain party faithful at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Town Hall Meeting at Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, the stand-up performer said he was one of the many celebrities who led a vigil, protesting erratic power supply known as “dumsor” under the NDC administration.
However, he said, Mr Mahama gave him a warm reception and cracked jokes during a photo opportunity at an event, years later.
DKB recalled the former President’s gag, saying he had been impressed with the Flagbearer’s sense of humour.
“John Mahama told me a joke, I’ve never seen one before. He [Mahama] said: ‘You know your name, DKB, if we remove the ‘B’ and put an M’, that’s DKM…people will chase you for their money…and he [Mahama] added let’s take the picture before people chase you for the money’…my heart melted,” DKB narrated hysterically.
DKM was the name of an unlicensed Microfinace company which operated in the former Brong Ahafo Region, and swindled thousands of clients who had invested their money prior to the 2016 General Election.
DKB, born Derick Kobina Bonney, also praised Mr Mahama’s dance moves.
