Tema-Ghana, Oct. 18, – Appolonia City Ladies commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child together in an effort to motivate the female final-year students at Appolonia Kpone-Katamanso District Assembly Junior High School to set greater goals for themselves.
The Appolonia City Ladies that day also gave the young ladies motivation to strive for success.
Along with officials from the marketing and sales departments, the team’s leader, Ms. Claudia Otoo, Head of City Management, shared personal stories with the girls, emphasizing the obstacles and disappointments they overcame en route to success.
They emphasized the importance of persistence, effort, and seeking education in order to overcome hurdles in life.
The crew handed the girls gifts that included sanitary pads, exam math sets, water and refreshments in an effort to support their education and overall well-being.
As Ms. Otoo pointed out, on December 19, 2011, the UN General Assembly passed Resolution 66/170, which declared October 11 to be the International Day of the Girl Child in observance of girls’ rights and the unique challenges they face around the world.
She explained that the International Day of the Girl Child raises awareness of the problems faced by girls and promotes their empowerment and the achievement of their human rights.
According to Ms. Otoo, teenage girls have a right to a safe, healthy, and educated life throughout these vital developmental years as well as when they mature into women.
Women “have the potential to change the world—both as the empowered girls of today and as tomorrow’s workers, mothers, entrepreneurs, mentors, household heads, and political leaders—if effectively supported during the adolescent years,” she said.
According to her, the investment company Appolonia City is aware that helping the young females will empower them to stand up for their rights now and guarantee a more equitable and successful future.
Ms. Otoo urged the girls to stay focused and underlined those stereotypes and exclusion—particularly those that target marginalized people and children with disabilities—are causing women to break down barriers and restrictions worldwide.
On behalf of her fellow pupils, Miss Isabella Bedu, the Girls Prefect at Appolonia Junior High School, expressed gratitude to the Appolonia City Ladies for joining them in commemorating the 2023 International Day of the Girl Child.
“We thank Appolonia City for their kind gesture and promise to make the entire city proud.” It is inspiring to see what we can do when we put a lot of time and focus into our writing.
We pledge that by banding together, we can guarantee that a girl from Appolonia Junior High School will take the Basic Education Certificate Examination the next year with the highest score.
