The Trinity Temple of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Kumasi, has donated office furniture for the consulting rooms of the refurbished Psychiatry Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
The donation, valued at approximately GH₵75,000, was through contributions from the church’s ‘’Healthy Mind Offering’’, an offering set up to support various health organisation in the country and beyond.
A team led by the Reverend Sylvanus Sowah Odotei, Head Pastor of Trinity Temple, presented the items to the Unit.
Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of KATH, who received the furniture, said it came at a crucial moment when the Unit was preparing to re-open its newly renovated ground floor for outpatient services and provide enhanced healthcare services to the community.
‘’The support from Trinity Temple do not only reflect their commitment to improving healthcare services but also their dedication to the well-being of the local population” Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah said.
Rev. Sowah Odotei thanked the leadership of the church, Pastor Dr. Mensa Otabil and his wife, Mrs. Joy Otabil, for the initiative to support humanity and the health sector in the country.
“As people of faith, we believe in the power of compassion, service, and love for one another.
It is these values that guide us in all our actions.
The decision to support the refurbishment of this unit was not just a financial contribution, but a spiritual one as well,’’ he emphasised.
He said through the ‘’Healthy Mind Offering’’, the congregation came together, united by the desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who would walk through the doors of the unit in search of healing and care.
Dr. Ruth Owusu-Antwi, Head of the Psychiatry Unit, stated that she had witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by patients and the tireless efforts of staff members to provide compassionate, high-quality care.
‘’The donation has come at a critical time as we work to enhance our facilities and create an environment that promotes healing and recovery.
Your support will make a tangible difference in the lives of many, offering them a more comfortable and dignified experience during their time of need”, she added
The renovation of the Unit was funded by the Ghana Gas Company.
