Ashaiman-Ghana, May 13, CDA Consult – After a three-hour delay caused by party leaders’ failure to send a truck to pick up materials from the police station, voting in the National Democratic Congress primary has commenced in the Ashaiman Constituency.
Lawyer David Worwui-Brown, the third contender on the list and a first-time candidate told newsmen that his legal background set him apart from his peers.
“Parliament is for lawmakers; therefore, looking at the demography and happenings in this area, I am the best person to represent the people of Ashaiman,” he stated.
Mr. Worwui-Brown said that his colleagues were giving money to delegates to urge them to vote for them; however, he only had his services as an offer and influence, which he claimed the “silent majority” embraced.
He stated that if he is not chosen, he will continue to work with his colleagues; however, if the delay is designed to rig the poll, it will be illegal.
According to the directions they were given, Tony Afenyo, the fifth-time candidate, stated at the voting station in Ashaiman, Africa Advance Park, that voting will begin at 7:00 a.m.
Mr. Afenyo told newsmen that restitution for lost time should be offered if necessary, especially if delegates are still present and have not cast their votes after the voting deadline.
Voting started at 10:23 a.m., with six voting stations set up. Voting was thoroughly observed by all aspirant agents and electoral commission agents.
There will be a total of 3,172 delegates voting.
At Ashiaman newsmen noticed a heavy police presence.
