Tema-Ghana, Sept. 17, GNA – Mr Dominic Oduro Antwi, the President of the Ghana India Trade Advisory Chamber (GITAC), has called on African youth to actively engage in technological activities, to drive the continent’s transformation and secure its future.
“Engaging in technological activities can provide African youth with valuable skills and knowledge that are in high demand in today’s digital economy, he said.
Mr Oduro Antwi said through technology, young Africans could unlock opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, which would not only benefits individuals but also contribute to the overall economic growth and development of the continent.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the weekend, he said there was the urgent need for Africa’s youth to embrace technology as a tool for addressing pressing challenges such as poverty, healthcare, education, and sustainable development.
He added that “by equipping young Africans with the necessary skills and knowledge, they can lead the way in finding innovative solutions to these complex issues.”
He said technology was a catalyst for transformation across various sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and governance, and by actively participating in technology activities, African youth can contribute to the digital transformation.
Mr Oduro Antwi noted that the transformation could lead to improved access to quality education, enhanced healthcare services, increased agricultural productivity, and more transparent and efficient governance systems.
“Engaging in technology activities empowers African youth to shape their own future and contribute to the development and progress of the continent,” he said.
He indicated that GITAC recognised the importance of bridging the digital divide and ensuring equal access to technology for all, hence the initiatives that promote digital literacy, infrastructure development, and affordable internet connectivity across the continent.
The President of GITAC stressed that by addressing these challenges, GITAC aims to create an inclusive and equitable tech ecosystem that benefits all African youth.
Mr Oduro Antwi said GITAC aimed to empower the youth as catalysts for change through technology.
