The PC said people with hearing impairment go through a lot of troubles seeking medical attention, hence the PWDs policy in the NPP Manifesto to address that omission.
Mr Arthur made these known when he addressed PWDs and their leaders in the Agona West Municipality to outline his plans and visions to improve their living standards at Agona Swedru in the Central region.
He stated that health facilities must have sign language personnel to interpret prescriptions and other related issues to them, adding that if Ghanaians voted for Dr Bawumia to become President, he would implement good policies for PWDs to restore their hopes and aspirations.
He said the government under President Akufo-Addo had already made substantial increment in PWDs common fund and other related issues that seek to address their welfare.
The PC expressed optimism that the government under Dr Bawumia would do more to improve their standard of living and that of their families.
Mr Arthur further expressed concern that many of the problems confronting majority of PWDs now, were accidental and preventive.
To help prevent such cases in future, he stated, a team of health professionals and other experts have been tasked to embark on community engagements to educate residents about them.
He said there was the need to restore their social lives to help them to live better lives and pledged that if the people of Agona West gave him the nod to become MP on December 7, 2024, he would use part of his common fund to cater for them and their children as part of efforts to lessen the burden on parents.
Mr Arthur directed some PWDs who were hairdressers and seamstress apprentices to contact his office for immediate collection of hair dryers and sewing machines to help them complete the apprenticeship programmes.
The PC urged PWDs in the Constituency to rally support for Dr Bawumia’s candidature to enable to continue the good policies initiated to improve their wellbeing.
Mr Evans Addison Onomah Coleman, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said the government had given substantial increase in the common fund meant for PWDs and urged them to support government’s efforts to cater for them.
He said the Assembly would collaborate with the PC to implement policies and programmes outlined to their benefit.
Mr Isaac Mensah, Central regional Communication Director of NPP, said Dr Bawumia had pledged to provide free tertiary education for PWDs if he became the President and asked them to support the government and massively vote for Agona West NPP Parliamentary candidate to retain the seat.
Mr Mohammed Tanko, President of Agona West PWDs, expressed appreciation to the PC for his good intention to roll out plans to cater for PWDs in the constituency.
He appealed to the MCE and the PC to help provide them with an office where members could channel their grievances and seek help.
