Ho-Ghana, Jan. 01, GNA – Reverend Dr Lawrence Dzanku, the Clerk of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana (EPCG), has called on the nation to consider its choice of leadership as it enters an election year.
The Clerk made the call while delivering his new year message at the watch-night service at the Dela Cathedral in Ho, where the century-old Church has its headquarters.
He said the nation required a leader with a mindset to transform its fortunes to the likes of advanced countries.
Rev. Dzanku asked the youth to consider their role in selecting a principal head for the country and should not allow their well thought choices to be compromised.
“The youth, you must be wise and not allow yourselves to be bought by politicians. You must do what is right for the peace and development of Ghana.”
Touching on present issues of national interest, he said the EPCG maintained a stance against the promotion of LGBTQ+ in the country, as it found no space within the African and Christian concepts.
He said the Church planned a focus on the environment during the year, and which he said would seek to enhance hygiene, the protection of water bodies and other natural resources, and also a campaign against environmentally destructive agro- chemicals.
Thousands thronged the Dela Cathedral for the watch night service, while more joined online.
Rev. Dzanku encouraged the congregants to muster resilience, and that time would deliver the needed changes.
