Accra-Ghana, Nov. 19, GNA – The Black Stars of Ghana, who are yet to play their first match at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, are already making waves in Qatar.
The 26-man squad of the Black Stars arrived in Doha, Qatar, on Friday in their dazzling “Fugu,” a dress code associated with people of Northern Ghana.
The Fugu smock represents a sense of courage and strength and is often worn on solemn occasions, which also demonstrates a sense of leadership.
The players, who were beaming with smiles in their beautiful costumes, also had the “Beyond the Return” scarf around their necks.
The “Beyond the Return” campaign is a 10-year tourism-oriented initiative that seeks to promote Pan African heritage, create diaspora pathways to Ghana, and invest in Ghana, among others.
The Black Stars in their beautiful Fugu received a rousing welcome at the team’s base in the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Doha.
The Black Stars, who recently won their pre-World Cup warm up match against Switzerland, will open their campaign in the Qatar World Cup against Portugal on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
