Burma Camp-Ghana, Aug. 28, GNA – Engen Ghana Limited has, against all odds, dethroned the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), which has been a dominant bully in the 2023 Petroleum Fun Games (PETFUN) Tug of War games, to emerge as the new champions with an emphatic display.
NPA entered the field with a well-coordinated team, full of zeal and power to capture, but unfortunately, Engen Ghana had other plans, ambushed team NPA, and quickly disarmed them on the tag of war field.
With vociferous supporters and some other teams that have endured NPA’s bullying for years, joining team Engen Ghana with wild cheers, the team responded with an outstanding display of bravery to victory, Ghana News Agency Tema Regional Sports Desk observed during the 2023 PETFUN games at the weekend at Burma Camp Sports Complex.
Team Engen Ghana has now picked up the bragging rights against the NPA, which is considered biblical David defeating Goliath.
Mr. Brent Nartey, Managing Director of Engen Ghana, who served as the General Captain of Team Engen, noted that our dynamism, resilience, and sustainable growth plan worked perfectly well on the field.
He commended the team for raising the flag of the company among the giants of PETFUN.
Mr. Nartey, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Tema Regional Sports Desk, at the end of the competition, commended the organisers of the 2023 Petroleum Fun Games (PETFUN 2023) and the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMC).
The competitors were from five camps: Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketing Companies (LPGMCs), Bulk Import, Distributing, and Export Companies (BIDECs), Tank Farms, and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
Other teams that participated in the 2023 PETFUN include GOIL Company PLC, Oil Space Ghana, Trade-Cross, Sawadigo Oil Company, Aegis & Huille Company, Benab Oil Company, the National Petroleum Authority, Cirrus Oil Services, Trinity Oil Company, GAB Energy, Vivo Energy Ghana, JO & JU Oil Company, and ZEN Petroleum.
Others are Desert Oil Ghana, GRID Petroleum Ghana, Frontier Oil Ghana, Kabore Oil, Strategic Energies, Engen Ghana, R & P Oil Company, ICON Energy, TEL Energy, Star Oil Company, and Tema Fuel Company.
The rest are Superior Oil Company, JP Trustees, Radiance Petroleum, Petro Sankofa, Fuel Trade, Petronax Energy, Frimps Oil Company, Petrosol Ghana, and IBM Petroleum.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency’s Tema Regional Sports Desk, Mr. Tizard Ansah, AOMC Head of Compliance and PETFUN 2023 Coordinator, also complimented all the businesses who took part in the competition.
He said that in order to make PETFUN 2024 more exciting and competitive, the planning committee would study and adopt new strategies.
Mr. Ansah also expressed his gratitude to the sponsors, whose support was crucial to the event’s success.
