Somanya-Ghana, Jan. 16, MNN – The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Krobo District has organized fun games with its stakeholders to foster unity.
The football gala was held at the Yilo Krobo Senior High School.
The teams that participated in the football matches were the ECG/Military, Kpogunor, Kpong, Akro, Somanya Police, and YIKROSEC.
After the group stage fixtures, the Somanya Police played the ECG/Military team in a semi-final match which saw ECG/Military progressing to the finals.
The Kpong Team also beat the youngsters from YIKROSEC in the second semi-finals to book a place in the finals.
The ECG/Military and Kpong teams failed to win the competition during the stipulated time of play despite their impressive show.
However, the joint team of the ECG/Military defeated the Kpong Team 5:3 during the penalty shootout.
The winning team received a commemorative cup which was presented by Mr. Emmanuel Akinie, the General Manager of ECG, Tema Region.
Ms. Sakyiwaa Mensah, Tema Regional ECG Public Relations Officer said sports serve as a unifying activity, stressing that the games were organized as a way to enhance the current smooth working relationship between ECG and the customers/public in the District.
Ms. Mensah also said it was also to appreciate the beauty of working hand in hand with them, as well as serve as a reconciliatory activity while having fun with a cross section of the public.
