Delta Air Lines has announced the launch of a seasonal daily nonstop service between Accra and Atlanta, set to begin on December 1, 2025.
The introduction of the new route reflects Delta’s commitment to the Ghanaian market, as demand for travel between Ghana and the United States continues to grow, particularly during the peak December-January holiday season.
According to a press release issued by Kingdom Concepts Consult to the Ghana News Agency, the new service will strengthen Delta’s presence in Ghana, where the airline has been operating since 2006, transporting over 7.5 million customers across its African routes.
With the addition of this service, the airline will now operate two direct routes to Accra—the year-round daily flights from New York-JFK and the newly introduced seasonal service from Atlanta.
Mr Matteo Curcio, Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India at Delta, highlighted the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity for Ghanaian travellers.
“We know how important it is for families and friends to stay connected, and this additional flight ensures that more Ghanaians can easily reach their loved ones while enjoying world-class service.
“Our new Atlanta-Accra service reflects our continued dedication to offering Ghanaian travellers more choices, convenience, and premium experiences,” he said in the release.
The new Accra-Atlanta route will be operated using Delta’s Airbus A330-900neo, an aircraft that has been well received by Ghanaian travellers on the New York-Accra route.
The aircraft features Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin seating, offering next-generation comfort, modern in-flight entertainment, and an enhanced onboard experience.
The release stated that positive feedback from customers on the New York-Accra flights influenced the decision to introduce this aircraft on the Atlanta route, further improving travel options for passengers.
Delta’s Atlanta hub, the world’s largest airport, provides connections to more 215 destinations worldwide, enabling Ghanaian travellers to access major U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston.
The release stated that this expansion would make business and leisure travel more convenient for passengers flying between Ghana and the United States.
“In addition to the Accra-Atlanta service, Delta is further expanding its African operations with the launch of its first-ever nonstop flight from Atlanta to Marrakech, Morocco, which is set to commence on October 25, 2025,” the release said.
As part of its commitment to improving the passenger experience, Delta is also investing in enhancements at its Atlanta hub, including:
A new 24,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club on Concourse D, offering panoramic views and premium amenities.
Upgraded Sky Clubs on Concourses A and C to enhance guest comfort.
Expansion of Concourse D to improve passenger flow and increase gate capacity.
The introduction of Delta Digital ID, enabling eligible travellers to move through security and baggage drop seamlessly without needing a physical ID or boarding pass.
Expansion of free Wi-Fi to international routes in West Africa, including Lagos, Dakar, and Accra, in the coming weeks.
The release emphasised that these investments reinforce Delta’s position as a leading carrier between Ghana and the U.S., providing enhanced service, comfort, and connectivity.
Delta has served Africa since 2006, consistently expanding its network to meet growing demand.
The airline remains committed to connecting Ghana to the U.S. and beyond, ensuring a safe, reliable, and seamless travel experience for its passengers.
