– Mr Gershon Kofi Dorvlo, the owner of Champions Susu Enterprise, a financial institution at Akatsi has extended his love for humanity to a homeless mother at Nugblebi.
Mrs Ruby Agbedze, a 23-year-old petty trader and mother of three, who resides at Nugblebi, a farming community near Torve in the Akatsi South Municipality, has lost her entire belongings after her building was burnt to ashes.
Mr Emmanuel Hediku, a former Assembly member aspirant for the area who led the team to console the victim and the family, explained that the situation had brought total discomfort to the victim and her family.
“She was going for a programme when she heard her house, roofed with thatch was burning.”
Mr Hediku explained that the fire, which emanated from a nearby bush, burnt completely the victim’s belongings, including a cash amount of Ghc 2,500.00, kids’ school uniforms, dresses, and others.
“All our efforts to douse the inferno did not yield any positive result since it was too late before we got to know,” he added.
However, the timely intervention by Mr Dorvlo, who visited the victim on Thursday, brought some smile to her face after he promised to provide some educational assistance including a school uniform, a pair of shoes, pencils, exercise books, and others for the kids.
Mr Dorvlo, in his words of encouragement to the victim, presented an undisclosed amount of money for their upkeep.
Mr Hediku, on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude to the donor for his love and concern and called on others to support the homeless victim currently seeking refuge with a relative.
Mr Hediku also explained that the psychological trauma being experienced by the victim, called for urgent assistance to put her house back in shape.
Nugblebi is a farming community with residents being predominantly farmers who are engaged in activities such as fishing, maize farming, rice, cassava, and others.
The community also lacks access to quality education since the kids had to walk long distances to and from Torve before attending school.
The residents there, in an engagement with the Ghana News Agency, are appealing to the authorities including the MCE and the Education Directorate to come to their aid.
