Kumasi-Ghana, Dec. 03, GNA – Professor Okyere Addai-Mensah Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi has urged all Ghanaians, especially residents in the Ashanti region, to be ambassadors of the project to rehabilitate the facility.
He said the contribution of every individual was needed to mobilize adequate resources to undertake the massive renovation project, which was being spearheaded by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Addressing participants at a “grand walk”, to raise awareness of the project and the need for citizens to contribute to the fund-raising initiative in Kumasi, he said Komfo Anokye hospital had been the healing point for every soul within the northern part of Ghana.
It was time for all to get involved positioning the facility at a level that would help it to offer excellent healthcare delivery for all.
According to Prof. Addai-Mensah, the ‘Heal Komfo Anokye’ initiative was not just a project, but a testament to the unity, strength, and determination of the people to secure a healthier life and more prosperous future.
The walk passed through the principal streets of Kumasi’s business center to sensitize the ordinary citizens, especially women and men to be abreast with the project and get involve in contributing to that effect.
It took participants of the grand walk almost five hours to distribute flyers and explain to the public on how they could contribute at least Ghc100 through Momo and other financial services for the project.
According to the fliers distributed, contributors can use the *77*1955# option for the short code mode or send contribution through MOMO to 0544195525 with the Merchant ID195525.
One can also donate to the Cedi account number 2400302340016 or the dollar account 1951302340017.
All these payment modes are under the name “Heal Komfo Anokye.”
Meanwhile, the public had been advised to be wary of fraudulent characters who may take advantage of the project.
The health KATH initiative was part of Asantehene’s 25th Anniversary Legacy Projects.
It aims at mobilising about ten million dollars through fund raising to undertake and implement a comprehensive rehabilitation of the old GEE blocks of KATH to improve infrastructure and ensure that it continues to provide a more functional and efficient hospital environment that promotes healing, comfort, and safety for the people of Ashanti Region and beyond.
