Accra-Ghana, Oct. 28, GNA – Former Asante Kotoko star Joe Debrah has passed away at the age of 52.
Debrah, who is considered one of Ghana’s best attacking players, was confirmed dead earlier on Friday, October 27, 2023.
The cause of his death is yet to be ascertained, but he was reported to be battling an illness a few weeks ago.
Former Ghana international Anthony Baffoe eulogised the Kotoko legend with this post on X: “Joe Debrah Asante Kotoko and Ghana Legend has passed …”
We belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return. Rest well Big Joe. Please, let’s take care of our health since we don’t know tomorrow.”
During his playing days, Joe Debrah was compared to the late Shamo Quaye, considering his attacking prowess and how he tormented defenders.
He spent eight years with the Porcupine Warriors, having won numerous laurels, and also played for Ivorian side Africa Sports.
