Accra-Ghana, Sept. 14, GNA – Skipper Andre Ayew made his 115th appearance for the Black Stars in yesterday’s friendly encounter against Liberia at Ghana’s Wembley, the Accra Sports Stadium.
The forward helped his side to record a well deserved 3-1 victory over their opponents as they journey towards the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.
The 33-year-old now leads the chart ahead of former skipper, Asamoah Gyan, Richard Kingston, Jordan Ayew and John Painstil respectively.
To his credit, he has managed to bag 24 goals for the Ghanaian side, having made his debut in August 2007 in an international friendly against Senegal.
The U-20 World Cup winner despite criticisms from Ghanaians, is still hopeful he would make Chris Hughton’s final squad for the AFCON.
He desires to lead the Black Stars team to end its over 40 year’s trophy drought, having made history with the junior side in 2010.
