So far about 3,000 persons, mainly women, have benefitted from the programme which was introduced as part of efforts to ensure that beneficiaries become self-employed and earn a living through decent work.
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, the second cohorts of beneficiaries were trained in assorted detergents making and pastries.
The third leg of the programme, which would train other categories of beneficiaries, mainly men in pavement blocks moulding and 3D design, P.O.P, mobile phone and laptop repairs among other skills.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Madam, Doris Mirekua, Spokesperson for Bishop Denoo’s Campaign, said youth unemployment was major concern for the constituents of Amasaman.
She said the purpose of the programme was to empower the constituents especially women to establish their own businesses and fend for their families.
“Bishop is very passionate about empowering the people to be self-reliant and one of the avenues to do that is to equip them with basic skills to set up their own businesses. In addition to the training, we will support them with funds to start their business, Madam Mirekua said.
She appealed to the constituents to repose confidence in the independent candidate and vote for him to execute the policies he had designed to bring prosperity to the people of Amasaman.
Some beneficiaries of the training thanked Bishop for the opportunity and appealed to him to extend the programme to many electoral areas within Amasaman to benefit more people.
“This initiative is timely. I have learnt how to produce liquid soap and other detergents which are in high demand. I am confident that through this business, I would raise money to meet my needs,” Linda Andoh, a beneficiary said.
