It is aimed at fostering peace, unity, and collaborative development among the two historically connected communities.
The event, held at Afeyeme was also used to launch a major fundraising campaign to support the construction of a modern community centre.
The celebration took place under the theme: “Bringing the Community Together in the Interest of Peace, Unity, and Cultural Heritage”.
Togbui Akpabi VI, the Dufia of Afeyeme, in an address, emphasised the importance of the occasion, describing it as a significant step toward reconciliation, reconnection, and community transformation.
“This celebration is more than just a gathering. It is a symbol of our shared heritage, our unity of purpose, and our collective resolve to build a brighter future together,” he said.
He announced that the proposed community centre, which will cost GHS 500,000, would serve as a hub for traditional council meetings, youth development programs, cultural activities, and community engagements.
Togbui Akpabi also highlighted the common ancestry of Afeyeme and Afiadenyigba, tracing their shared roots, migration history, and cultural practices that once bound the two communities closely together-from marriage customs and burial rites.
“Our forebears lived as one, guided by mutual respect and shared values. Sadly, over time, some of that unity has faded, but today marks the beginning of its restoration,” adding that this was not just a festival but a movement to rekindle their identity and commitment to one another.
He called on the people, both at home and in the diaspora, to come together with renewed dedication, love, and a shared vision for the future.
Mr Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, commended the two communities for coming together in unity.
He stressed that peace and unity remain the foundation for any meaningful development.
Mr Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive, also pledged his full support for the initiative, encouraging the communities to maintain the spirit of cooperation and promised to back efforts aimed at enhancing local development.
The event brought together traditional leaders, Queen mothers, government officials, community members, and dignitaries from near and far, who echoed the need to preserve cultural heritage while building a united and prosperous future.
