Mr Vroom said this at the 15th cadet handing and taking over ceremony of the school, where he applauded the cadets for their outstanding display of discipline, skill, and commitment to the values instilled by the corps.
He noted that the cadet programme played a critical role in maintaining security, citing a past local disturbance incident in which the cadet members intervened to ensure the safety and order of the school community.
He expressed joy at the achievements of former cadet members, who were serving in various sectors, including the security agencies and the media, adding that the values imbibed in them as cadets had impacted them in a positive way.
Master Dacosta Michael Kofi, an instructor in the school’s cadet corps, appealed to stakeholders for support to acquire essential resources such as uniforms and regimental bands for the cadet corps, emphasising that ASTECH’s cadet corps remained the only one of its kind in the district.
The ceremony featured a vibrant parade, gymnastic displays, and the cadets’ spirited chant of “Ahooo Ahoyaya,” capturing the unity and resilience of the corps.
The event served as both a reunion for alumni and a testament to the lasting influence of the cadet programme on ASTECH’s culture of excellence.
