Ada-East DCE commissions new CHPS compound at Alorkpem
By Elizabeth Larkwor Baah
Tema, July 5, GNA – Ms Sarah Dugbakie Pobee, District Chief Executive for Ada-East District Assembly, has commissioned a newly built Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Alorkpem.
The facility would help improve access to health care delivery for residents and non-residents within the Island communities, including Afelvi, Azizakpe, and its environs.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Pobee said pregnant women in the community have been facing difficulties during labour and health care due to the lack of a maternity ward at the facility, hence the provision of a block.
Ms. Pobee expressed joy that the facility would be bridging the healthcare gap and encouraged the residents to patronize the facility to justify the investment made.
She said the effort formed part of improving the healthcare needs of Ada residents and reducing maternal and infant mortality in the district, assuring that more would be done to improve the general well-being of the residents.
The Ada-East DCE emphasised that the initiative also formed part of the government’s commitment to improving the health needs of Ghanaians.
Dr Hubert Hounkpatin, District Health Director, who received the facility on behalf of the District Health Directorate, thanked the DCE and the Assembly for the gesture.
He urged the community members to take proper care of the facility and advised the nurses to exhibit professionalism in their work to encourage the community members to patronise the facility.
The chiefs and people of the community expressed their appreciation to the DCE for the facility, which would go a long way to improving health care for the island communities, pledging to take good care of the facility.
