Ada-Ghana, Dec. 6, MNN – Mr. John Ofosu McCarthy, Best Physically Challenged Farmer and was awarded a water pump, knapsack sprayer, television set, and 50 KG of organic fertilizer, while Mr. Daniel Tetteh Asigbey was adjudged the Best District Crop Farmer and was given cutlasses, coconut seedlings, a fridge, and a television set.
Nene Osusey Akwerh II was also decorated as the Best Livestock Farmer and was given a knapsack sprayer, television set, fridge, seedlings, and water pump, among others.
Mr. Agbeyiame Moses was adjudged the 2022 Ada-East District Best Extension Officer and was given a fridge, water pump, knapsack sprayer, television set, wellington boot, and coconut seedlings, among other things.
The farmers were rewarded at the Ada-East observance of the 38th National Farmers Day, which was on the theme: “Accelerating Agricultural Development through Value Addition,” at Ada.
Ms. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee, Ada-East District Chief Executive in a speech said farmers and fishermen had contributed immensely to the growth and prosperity of the country.
She said National Farmers Day offers the country the opportunity to award hardworking farmers and fishermen and encouraged others to emulate the award winners.
Ms. Pobee added that the day also offered the opportunity to identify vital problems in the sector as well as issues affecting the welfare of farmers.
Mr. Victor Avah, Ada-East District Agricultural Director congratulated the farmers for their hard work and urged them to apply modern methods for their activities to increase production in the country.
