Mr Iftikhar Ahmed Fenyi, Project Director of the Center which is into child advocacy in the Assin South District (ASD) of the Central Region, said the gesture was to equip farmers to plant, harvest, sell and save money to support their families.
The seeds include tomatoes, green pepper, chilli pepper, cucumber, cabbage and many more estimated at GH¢50,000.00.
According to Mr Fenyi, his organisation was committed to helping the farmers to alleviate poverty, be self-sufficient and help achieve food security in the district through access to quality seeds.
He said empowering farmers was essential to enhancing food security and therefore appealed to the beneficiaries to use the seeds judiciously to benefit all.
An estimated 52 percent of Ghana’s Population of about 34.12 million people rely on agriculture for their sustenance and income.
Rev Peter Hagan, a beneficiary, expressed appreciation for the support and commended the Center for supplying high quality seedlings, saying he was confident that his crop yield would increase to improve his livelihood.
